Design museum : The Future Is Here

This was a piece done by the laser cutter, the chess piece were burnt and cut through by the laser and slotted together to form a 3D object. I like the texture it give and the colour of the burnt bit where its cut contrasting with the original piece of wood.

In terms of materials and technology, this grabbed my attention. It is a glasses frame which has grill like sides which allows the arms to move in without opening outwards too much, it would be the perfect width and pressure for the person's head. This shows the importance and the advanced technology today has.

I think simplicity for this sofa was key. the colours were influenced by birds/parrot colour. The sofa looks simple but has an effective look and it seem very handy and has high functionality.

 Functionality

 Designing process, sketches and prototyping.
The colour influence

This light bulb concentrated on trying to minimise environmental issues, firstly the the product allows the manufacture and the owner to communicate so when there is something wrong with the lightbulb, the product can be updated, recycled or repaired. Also there is a measurement on the lightbulb which the manufacture can view and if its required the company will automatically send another l.e.d lightbulb to the owner and the own light bulb will be sent back for re-processing.
The benefit of using l.e.d is that it has a much long life span, meaning less waste are ending up in the landfill.

A proces called laser rasting, creates an image using the laser cutter.
