Today after a talk on 3D design, i learnt how so many parts of design overlap each other and the importance of collaboration. Lots of design subjects are sometimes needed in order to create a product, for example a 3D designer may require a graphic designer for packaging advertisement etc. I also learnt how designers may have done fine art for a degree and end up doing something rather different, e.g. some architect may have came from a fine art background. i think this helps the conceptual of a building and the mind set of a fine artist can bring a unique look for a building - thinking outside the box.
Afterwards we were to make small models of bridges and see how they can be structured formed or shaped, this may help my group in the afternoon forming a bridge that a remote control car will have to get across a 2.5 metres gap.
We therefore have lots of small models which we can pick maybe certain parts out which are more interesting for the bigger scale bridge, so that the bridge will have a combination of good ideas from the group. (Collaborate)
Theses are my conceptional, rather abstracted small models.
Conceptual ideas of bridges, using folds and score lines to create sharp, unusual shape for a bridge. Bridges doesn't have to be straight !
Experimenting with curves and cylindrical structure, bridges can be as very simple and functions well, however for me its about aesthetics, also being different and standing out as well as functioning.
All Author's own.
These are great, they're all very original and conceptual. The only thing I would say is I would have liked to know how these ideas came about, eg. if they had any inspiration of modern architecture or you could have given them some colour or decoration!
