Barbican visit

Going to the Barbican to see the pop art exhibition and to look for inspirations. but before going into the exhibition, the Barbican itself was unique and worked very well inside. i started to understand the concept of branding just being inside of the Barbican.

 

 


      

i realised that the Barbican identity colour i orange, most things were in orange clashing with darker furniture's such as black and brown. - seems to be exterior colours such as concrete and rocks. Even some of the interior walls contain the texture of the exterior materials. 

the colour orange appears everywhere and its an identity - even to little detail such as lightnings, directory, small signs, cloak rooms to large displays. the image and style are very blocky, the things in the Barbican are very solid looking, eg the directory, they are displayed by a solid box, even the lift buttons are a solid box. TV displays are especially put in a block. i think this is also an identity and their branding stragedy.
